FAQs

How do I schedule an appointment??

You can leave a confidential voicemail at (970) 596-6979. I check my voicemail several times a day on weekdays and at least once per day on weekends and holidays. I try to return calls within 24 hours or the next business day for calls left over the weekend. If you prefer, you can also contact me by email. However, as security and prompt delivery of email cannot be guaranteed, please do not include sensitive clinical information and never use email in an emergency.

How long are sessions?

Individual sessions are 45-minutes.

How often and how long will I have to come to therapy?

Although people often want to know upfront how long therapy will last, this question is impossible to answer definitively and depends upon the individual. Some problems can be resolved in 5 or 6 sessions. However, issues that are more complicated may involve long-term and more substantive work. I usually recommend beginning with weekly sessions although periods of more intensive treatment may be recommended.

What time of day are appointments available?

I offer daytime appointments during the business week. However, my schedule changes regularly and availability varies. Please contact me to see if we can find a mutually agreeable meeting time.

What is the fee and how do I pay?

My fee for a 45-minute session is $160. I require payment at the time of service by credit card, cash, check, or Venmo. At the end of each session, I will provide you with a bill detailing the service provided and the total amount paid. If this billing arrangement is not feasible, I will work with you to see if an agreeable arrangement can be reached. I have a limited number of reduced fee appointments for patients. Please ask me if you have this need.

Can I use my health insurance?

As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado and Louisiana, my services qualify for reimbursement under many insurance plans. I operate as an out-of-network provider, which means that I do not contract with a specific plan or insurance company to provide services. I am not “in-network” because I prefer to make treatment recommendations and decisions independent of your insurance plan’s rules and guidelines.

I recommend that you contact your insurance carrier to determine if any portion of my services as an out-of-network provider will be covered and/or to check their out-of-network reimbursement rates. Upon request, I can provide a monthly Superbill with all of the necessary information for you to submit for insurance reimbursement.

To gather more information about your specific plan’s reimbursement, the following questions are helpful to ask your insurance provider:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health insurance benefits? (Insurance companies use the code “90834” to refer to a standard psychotherapy session).

  • What is my deductible and has it been met?

  • How many sessions per year does my health insurance cover?

  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
